Why Your Poker Club Needs Its Own Poker Platform

More features is not the same as a better app
Open a shared club app like ClubGG or PPPoker and count the menus. Game variants, table options, modes, settings, event types, all built for thousands of different clubs at once. Your club probably plays two or three games. Your players use a handful of buttons.
This is not just a poker problem. Pendo’s 2019 study of usage data from 615 software products found that about 80% of features are rarely or never used. And Hick’s law, one of the oldest findings in interface design, says the more options people see, the longer they take to decide, and the more often they give up.
The rest is noise. New players tap around, open the wrong screen, join the wrong table and message you or your agent to ask how something works. Some give up before they play a single hand. A long feature list looks impressive on a store page, but for a club it is mostly overhead.
When you run your own poker platform, you decide what is in it. You start with the features your players actually use, and you add more only when they ask.
What feature overload costs your club
- Confused players. Every extra screen is one more place to get lost. Players who don’t know a game’s rules shouldn’t have to scroll past it to find yours.
- Support work for you and your agents. “Where is my table?” and “What does this button do?” land on you, not on the app company.
- Nothing you can remove. On a shared app you can’t hide what your club doesn’t need. Everyone gets the same menus.
- Nothing you can add. If your players want something specific, you can only hope the platform builds it for everyone.
Your own platform: built around your players
With Silent Aces, your app carries your club’s name and contains what your club plays. If your regulars play Hold’em and PLO, your lobby shows Hold’em and PLO. If they love Bomb Pots, you turn them on. If nobody plays mixed games, they stay out of the way.
The feature list grows with your club. Ask your players what they want, look at what they actually play, and add it when there is demand. Nobody has to learn rules for games they will never sit down at.
| Feature | Club on a shared app | Your own platform |
|---|---|---|
| Features | The same long list for every club | Only what your players use |
| New features | When the platform decides | When your players ask |
| Promotions | Club-level tools only | Your own offers, online and offline |
| Referrals | Club codes, sorted out by hand | Referral links that assign players automatically |
| Brand | The app’s brand | Your club’s brand |
Promotions a shared app can’t run for you
Your own platform is also where your club’s promotions live. Ideas clubs run on Silent Aces:
- Offline events and deals. Tie the app to your live room: online qualifiers for your club nights, drinks or dinner deals for regulars, and one rewards system across both rooms.
- Sponsored seats at big live tournaments. Run online satellites or a leaderboard where the prize is a package to a major live event, such as a WSOP tournament.
- Goodies for milestones. Club merchandise for a player’s first tournament win, their hundredth session or a monthly leaderboard spot.
- Social media rewards. A player posts an Instagram reel or a public post about your club with your hashtag, and gets a freeroll entry or a tournament ticket.
On a shared app you would track all of this by hand, in chat and spreadsheets. On your own platform it is built into the app and the back office.
Run every promotion within your local rules, and check each social network’s own rules for promotions first. Facebook, for example, doesn’t allow “share this on your timeline to enter”.
Referral links that put players in the right place
Every agent and affiliate gets their own referral link. When a player signs up through it, the player lands under the right agent in your back office automatically. No codes typed in by hand, no messages asking which agent a new player belongs to, and no disputes about who brought whom.
The same links work for your own campaigns: a link in an Instagram bio, a QR code on the tables of your live room, or a link in your club’s WhatsApp group. You see which link brought each player, so you know which campaign worked.
How referral deep links work
A referral link carries the agent’s code. What happens next depends on whether the player already has your app:
- App already installed. The link opens the app directly. On iPhone this uses Universal Links, and on Android it uses App Links: your domain publishes a small verification file that tells the phone which app may open its links, so the app receives the link and reads the agent code.
- App not installed yet. This is called a deferred deep link. The player goes to the app store first, so the code has to survive the install. On Android, Google Play’s Install Referrer passes the link’s data through the store; the app reads it once on its first launch, and Google keeps it available for 90 days. iPhone has no equivalent, so the code is saved when the link is tapped and matched to the new install when the app first opens.
- Sign-up. When the player creates an account, the agent code is stored with it. From then on the player’s rake, rakeback and the agent’s share are tracked under that agent.
One practical lesson: don’t build your referrals on a link service you don’t control. Firebase Dynamic Links, which many apps used for exactly this, was shut down by Google on 25 August 2025, and its links stopped working.
When it makes sense to move
If your club has around 200 active players or more, your own platform starts to make sense. At that size you have enough players to run your own tournaments and promotions, your agents need proper tools, and the time spent answering “how does this work?” on a shared app adds up.
Smaller clubs can still start with our shared platform and move to a dedicated one as they grow.

What comes built in
- Your brand on iOS, Android, web and desktop.
- Your payments: crypto through NOWPayments, cards and bank transfers through Approvely.
- Your back office for players, tables, agents, affiliates, rake, rakeback and loyalty.
- Security: location checks with Radar, VPN and proxy detection with MaxMind, and an RNG certified by iTech Labs.

How to plan your feature list
- Ask your players which games and formats they play most.
- Start lean: launch with those games and the promotions you already run.
- Give agents their referral links before launch, so every new player is assigned from day one.
- Add features on demand, when enough players ask for them.
FAQ
Can I choose which games and features my players see?
Yes. Your app shows the games and features you choose, and you can add more later as your players ask for them.
Can I run my own promotions, like freerolls for social media posts?
Yes. Your platform can reward players with freeroll entries or tournament tickets for actions you choose. Check your local rules and each social network’s promotion rules first.
How do referral links work?
Each agent and affiliate gets a link. Players who sign up through it are added under that agent in your back office automatically.
How many players do I need?
Clubs with around 200 active players or more get the most from their own platform. Smaller clubs can start on our shared platform.
Can I offer live tournament packages as prizes?
Yes. You can run online satellites or leaderboards where the prize is a seat or package for a live event. You are responsible for following your local rules.
